Judging...

Everyone does it. If you say you don't, then you're lying.
It's human.
But that doesn't make it nice.
Especially when you are the one being judged.

When you willingly sign up to be judged, then you're crazy.

Mr. T and I are currently in the process of completing our "Life Book" for the adoption process. This book is a simple 20 page picture book that is supposed to get your whole life story from: children, hobbies, education, interests, family, occupation, talents, and preference in toothpaste down in a neat and orderly manner without using too many words. You include pictures of yourself, your family and everything that might get your family story across.

Then you hand it over to be judged.

The adoptive birth mothers look at your life book and decide if they would be interested in meeting you for an interview to adopt the child that is inside of them.

Seriously.

It's a tad nerve racking to put yourself and your family "out there". Talk about millions of insecurities that begin to flood your brain and make you feel like you're not good enough at just the wrong time. Vulnerability is not my strong suit, but what I have learned through this entire process is that I am constantly having to get out of my comfort zone.
Because that's what faith's about, right?

So... here's to fair judging.

I think when it comes to something as personal as this you have every reason to have insecurities about being judged for this or that. I think it is very admirable of you to consider adoption as a parenting choice.

You must be much more secure than you give yourself credit for. I am so insecure. Adoption is something we have talked about and the idea of putting our lives in a 20 page book is a bit nerving. However, the pay out is so great that maybe I can get over my issues. I wish you and Mr. T the best of luck. You will be amazing parents (again), insecurities and all!

Talk about pressure, not about being judged, but about summing your life up in 20 pages of pictures. Yikes! You have such a way with words and sharing your life though, so I'm sure it will turn out amazingly well. I can't wait to read the post about being chosen in the near future. I know it's coming. Can't wait!

I remember going through that step. I wanted to convey all of the GREATNESS that we were doing and could offer. I went through every picture we had, decorated the book and PRAYED that a mother would pick us. Well guess what the book was NEVER even looked out. Our son was born and we went to meet him 12 hours later and took him home 24 hours later - the book never even crossed my mind again.
Keep positive and just know that this plan is not our own!!
