My baby daddy...

Turned 29 today! He is now a cradle robber again because he is 2 years older than me (gasp!). Somehow we manage that awkward age difference well.

Fishing is his favorite thing in the world to do. So what are we doing for his birthday? If you guessed fishing you don't know me well. We are going to Nashville to see Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan! Beer, Biscuits and Country Music come in a close second to him, and so we are going with that route.

So happy birthday you dirty old man. I love you!

20 miles...

I finished the second twenty miler in my marathon training on Saturday. It was rainy and ugly, but I was wearing SHORTS! Shorts in February? Amazing. I was pretty tired by the end of it, but thankfully I had Mr. T run the last 8 miles with me, so I had some entertainment. You can only listen to old school Nelly rap so long before it just get's old and sad that you still know every.single.word.

After the run, we met up with some of our friends at the Oral Roberts basketball game to watch Izzy's best friend (and if arranged marriages were allowed here....her future husband) race in the diaper dash at half time. It was great for a good laugh and Izzy got to go on the court at half time to dance!

See the lightening bug on the left? That's Isabelle's new nemesis. He has taken the place of the Chic-fil-a cow.

Sunday I enjoyed the afternoon cooking and cleaning, alone. Mr. T took Isabelle to the park to play, while I enjoyed loud music and an even louder vaccuum cleaner. I take for granted how much easier the simple chores can be when you don't have a tiny human hanging off your leg or getting things out while you are trying to put them away. And (shocker!) I actually enjoy doing normal, everyday chores....I think everyday that goes by, I am more like my mother (minus the worn out  Rich Mullins  CD she constantly played and add the Civil Wars CD that I constantly play).

It's the little things that count right?

{Embrace the Camera} February 16th

{Winter Wednesday}

She was so fascinated with the new snow.....
even though she did not want to get too close to it.
Examining it from a distance sounded better.
This guy decided this was the best day of his life. He wanted to roll in it...I begged him not to.
And in true Oklahoma fashion, the snow was gone a few short hours later.

Fuzzy Valentine

Sure this may be a Hallmark holiday, but it's still a lot of fun to celebrate a day of love. I told Mr. T that I don't want anything other than candy for Valentines day because I think it's a ridiculous holiday. He quickly replied with, "are you just saying that, but then really you'll get mad when I just get you something small?" to which I replied, "maybe."
He played it safe and bought me this little beauty at the Antique market.
Izzy and Elmo are King and Queen of photo bombing

We are laying low tonight and I am making a special homemade dinner for us and then I'm sure we'll enjoy a family ice cream date (shocker!). I remember the days when we used to set reservations a month in advance to a fancy restaurant that increased their prices by 50% to "celebrate love" and then go to a cheesy movie. Now, don't get me wrong I love me some cheesy movies, but I would rather stay home and make our own cheesy movies (not in a Paris Hilton kind of way, more of a Notebook kind of thing...you get my drift).

Last years Valentine (much easier to just prop on the bed and smile).

What a difference a year makes!
To my Isabelle:
Your free spirit and independent attitude makes me laugh everyday. You love to explore and find new adventures, yet you love to share those experiences with others. You have given me a glimpse of what God's love for his children must be like, which has completely opened my eyes. Your laugh melts my heart and the way you love to see others laugh is precious. I'm pretty sure you can get just about anything you want from daddy and mommy when you flash those big, brown eyes at us and I cherish everyday that I get to spend with you and learn from you.
To my Valentine:
Thank you for making coffee for me after my runs (you know the way to get this girl to smile in the morning).
Thank you for making the bed every morning and putting the dishes away (you know how much I love a made bed and clean kitchen).
Thank you for letting me be me and hearing me rant and rave(even when my opinions can be a tad "loud").
Thank you for celebrating Valentines day a day early (better early than late).
Thank you for accepting me in my M&M pajamas (I also know you secretly think they're hot).
Thank you for driving everywhere we go (you know I love to pretend I'm Miss Daisy).
Thank you for feeding the dogs every night (because you know I am terrified that one day a mouse will be in the dog food).
Thank you for giving me a back massage and accepting my daily rain checks to give you one back (you should have been a massage therapist!).
Thank you for putting up with my antique shopping and constant "projects" that are still in the garage (your patience is amazing to me).
Thank you for laughing every time I credit card you (you know I have the sense of humor of a 7th grade boy).
Thank you for supporting me in all my new adventures (you're a great cheerleader...all though I am glad you never were an actual cheerleader).
Thank you for wearing your KU shirt (you know I can't resist a hot man in blue).
Thank you for being the spiritual leader, hardest worker, best husband and best father for Izzy and me (I thank God for you every day).
Thank you for being MY Valentine. You are the best Valentine and I appreciate all of your little tokens of love.
I love you.
P.s. Are you crying your "happy tears"? :)

Girls Weekend

Mr. T grew up with 3 sisters so he is quite familiar with hanging with girls and letting us do our thing. That was definitely the case this weekend because his sister came in town to hang out and we spent the weekend, eating (always a fun time), shopping and painting nails. What man doesn't love those activities?

Isabelle is thinking of opening her own beauty salon.

Winter time in Oklahoma has finally hit, so we spent most of the weekend indoors. On Saturday it was 17 degrees outside with a windchill of 7. I was just about the only idiot runner on our running path running 16 miles. Thankfully, Mr. T ran the last few miles with me and got to witness the freezing of my pony tail. You know what's really attractive? Frozen spit and snot stuck to your face without you even being able to feel it because your face is so numb....so hot.
After warming up with about 14 cups of coffee I finally regained my color and looked a lot less like a blue Avatar so we could head out and get our shop on.

Little Miss is enjoying the shopping experience and Mr. T gets a workout with her. There's nothing more hilarious then seeing a screaming/laughing toddler sprint from isle to isle followed by her dad with an exhausted look on his face.

 What a little hipster

Kindergarten Teacher Craft

I love finally putting part of my degree into use by doing little crafts. That is what most people think Kindergarten teachers do right? Just craft with their kids? Ha. That would be nice.
Thankfully, I do get to craft as much as I want with my little one and  it's okay for her to send homemade gifts because let's face it...you wouldn't want a home made gift from me.

This week we have had a little family cold around here. Lots of coughing and headaches. Phlem is so in this season.

I also have a 16 miler this weekend.
This should be a heck of a good time...

{Wordless Wednesday}

What I'm loving today?
Sisters love for her dogs.
She makes Spike watch Dora with her (she pushes him until he sits by her on the couch).
She brings Spike sticks and his dog bowl to try to make him happy.
She screams in excitement when they take something from her (a piece of food or toy).
They are her favorite toys.

Ps. I know I'm not keeping it "wordless", but when am I ever the one to not say anything? I'm such a rule breaker

Getting to know you

Isn't that a song title? I'm singing a version of it right now in my head and if it's not a song then I am signing up to be a songwriter because I have just written my first tune. If it is already a tune...then it's kind of lame.
Anywhoo, the lovely, and about to be mama of two, Laura tagged me in a questions game. I love answering random questions because I love hearing other peoples' random answers as well. I answered Ashley's questions last week, but these are a whole different batch of questions.

1. What is your absolute favorite meal?
Sushi. It is delicious and addicting. My other favorite meal? Chips. Just chips.

2. Coke, Pop, or Soda?
Pop. Mr. T calls it "coke" but that feels weird to say I want some coke because 1. I don't do coke or crack or any other drug and 2. I don't drink coca-cola. I drink Pepsi and Dr. Pepper.
Soda's just too northern/old timey for me.

3. What kind of car do you drive?
Infinity g35. It's fast and good on gas. Perfect combo for me.

4. Have you ever traveled out of the country?
Yes, to Mexico several times.

5. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes?
Franchesca's collections, Anthropologie (when I'm feeling like spending $200 for a shirt...or I get a gift certificate),Forever 21 and most boutique's.

6. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
The South. Charlotte, NC. Nashville, TN, Savannah, GA.
or anywhere that doesn't have a lot of snow.

7. How did you meet your husband?
Friends of friends or our running group or a Superbowl Party? There are lots of ways to answer this question.

8. Do you have any nicknames?
Yes, everyone in my family calls me, Mo. My maiden name initials were MO. All my close friends call me Mel.

9. Why did you start your blog/How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging 7 months ago because I'm not so awesome at keeping up with baby books, plus I wanted to remember the little stuff we did. It's the little stuff that makes the big stuff right?

10. What were you like in high school?
Kind of a bia. Not going to lie I was dying to get out of high school and be "grown up". I had an older sister that told me how insignificant all my high school issues would be and I believed her. She was right, but I will say I did have a lot of fun.

11. How tall are you?
5'10"

12. What is your favorite book?
Toughie. New fav? The Help and Harry Potter. Classic fav? The Great Gatsby and Great Expectations.

There you have it folks. The details of my life.

Winter Blues?

Doesn't exist here. The giant fat gerbil saw his shadow yesterday which means 6 more weeks of winter and if that means days of 65 degrees and sunny, then I'll take it.

This weather reminds me of southern California...minus the oceans, celebrity's and crazy taxes. Other than than we're pretty much the spitting image.

In running news: my recovery week went well. I didn't have any workouts and I don't have much of a long run tomorrow, so we are planning a family coffee and donut breakfast date that I have been craving for weeks now!
Do you know how hard it is to run by your neighborhood bakery and see all the cute little families enjoying breakfast while you are JUST STARTING a 20 miler? It's hard. So this week we're soaking it up and Izzy is bringing her best friend along. She is having her very first slumber party tonight with her bestie while his parents hit the town.

I already over heard her saying the first one to fall asleep gets their diaper frozen....

{Embrace the Camera} February 2nd

Time to get in front of the camera with Emily
Meeting Daddy for a lunch date and bringing Izzy's best friend along (as well as her very own trusty stroller that is ALWAYS present on walks).

P.s. Tutu's are a norm now...we have officially hit that stage.

{Wordless Wednesday}

Because pen mark on your face means you're diligent about checking items off the grocery list, and a scratch on your cheek means you let yourself run wild with friends.
